God has truly been working in my life.
It’s so easy to get distracted by everything going on around us, but let me share a bit of story time. Recently, I was in a car accident. Thankfully, things unfolded in a way that worked in my favor.
This wasn’t my first accident. In the past, I was left shaken and scared to drive for a while. But this time was different—I remained calm. Ever since I’ve placed God at the center of my life, situations that once felt overwhelming no longer seem as scary. I’ve learned to trust in the purpose behind the moments I find myself in.
My immediate reaction after the accident was gratitude. I thanked God that no one was hurt. I was also grateful that my car was still drivable, allowing me to get home safely. Even my interaction with the other driver was calm and respectful. Instead of spiraling into fear or frustration, I found myself counting my blessings.
Even my daughter noticed. She asked me how I managed to stay so calm, and I told her, “As long as no one got hurt, the rest is manageable.”
Shortly after, my insurance company declared my car totaled. I’ll be honest—I felt the weight of that stress. Living in NYC means I have access to public transportation, but I’ve come to rely on my car, especially with my daughter being on her high school softball team. Her school is far, and being able to drop her off in the mornings and pick her up from games has been a blessing.
So yes, the thought of being without a car was stressful. But through prayer, I kept saying, “God, I trust your plans for me—even when I don’t know what’s coming next.”
Not long after, I heard back from my insurance company. I was getting more money than I expected—enough to put a solid down payment on a brand new car. It would be the first car I’ve ever purchased and registered in my own name. A big milestone.
I prayed again before going to the dealership, asking that whatever was meant for me would work out. Honestly, I didn’t expect to be able to drive something home that day—but I did.
After signing the paperwork and getting behind the wheel of my new car for the first time, I couldn’t help but smile. Inside, my inner child was beaming. My dad even pointed out that I’m the first in our family to own a brand-new car—all of us, myself included, had always gone the used-car route. It was a full-circle moment.
Now, of course, comes the reality of new expenses—car payments and those lovely NYC insurance prices—but I’m choosing to keep that same attitude of gratitude. I believe God doesn’t place anything in my path that I can’t handle.
Through this experience, I’ve learned to trust life’s process and lean into faith. Without that, I don’t think I would’ve been able to fully appreciate what this moment meant.
My hope in sharing this is to inspire you to trust the process too. Stay open to what life brings—because even in the chaos, there’s so much beauty to receive.
The results? Truly priceless.
